This rise is attributed to substantial stock awards during a year when Microsoft’s market capitalization reached an impressive $3 trillion, with shares rising approximately 31.2% by June 30, 2024. Currently, Elon Musk remains the highest-paid CEO in tech, with an annual compensation of $23.5 billion, while Nadella ranks eighth with a package of $309.4 million.

Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood also saw a 30% increase in her earnings, totaling ₹214.14 crore, while President Brad Smith received a 29% pay rise to ₹194.22 crore. Notably, Nadella's highest stock award occurred in 2014, when he received ₹697.2 crore. A recent filing from Microsoft's board indicated that Nadella could have earned ₹41.5 crore more had he not voluntarily requested a pay cut to address accountability for the company’s cybersecurity adjustments. The board expressed strong confidence in Nadella’s leadership, highlighting his critical role in the company's strong performance and strategic repositioning.
